Family ROSACEAE

Ulei in flower Osteomeles anthyllidifolia

`Ulei

Scale = 3

NOTE: Grows well, especially in the wet season, but produces no seedlings.

Family SCROPHULARIACEAE

`Ae`ae grows along the margins of the wetland Bacopa monnieri
`Ae`ae
water hyssop

Scale = 5

`Ae`ae close-up

NOTE: Spreads quickly and covers all exposed peat soil in the marsh restoration area. Extremely useful to prevent cat tail infestation, but eventually can grow well out onto open water. Clearly less desirable where bare mud flats are maintained for stilt (in Kawai Nui, these areas are rapidly taken over by cat tail).

Family THYMELAEACEAE

akia (EBG) Wikstroemia uva-ursi
`Akia

Scale = 3

Family VERBENACEAE

Pohinahina (EBG) Vitex rotundifolia
Pohinahina
beach vitex

Scale = 3

NOTE: Grows slowly and persists, but over-rated; not a spectacular performer at this location in the long term
